Biography– Carlo Pisani (1853-1942) …. “Musician, teacher and band/orchestra leader – born 33/9/1853 in the town of Viggiano, Italy. He was the fourth child born to farmers…poverty face by the Viggianese farmer of the time…. Carlo eventually followed his older brother…. to Australia in1881…. Carlo established an orchestra for the Bowraville Orchestral Society in 1911…. WWI Carlo assisted with fundraising for the Belgian Relief Fund…. Carlo and his wife retired to Bondi, where he taught thill his death in 1942.”

Gustave’s Enterprises.  “In the 1870s, the sailing ship SV Reichstag made several journeys between Hamburg and Australia, bringing German migrants to the new Australian colonies.  Reichstag was a 3 masted iron hulled sailing ship of 722 tons built in 1867 on Scotland’s River Clyde. Robert and Gustave were two children (on board) …. the brothers continued for a while in Brisbane until in 1875 Gustav decided to travel to New South Wales…In Grafton, Gustav was welcomed into the German Community.
